Getting a Cost Estimate |

|
Call CVS Caremark to get a cost estimate. If you currently use a brand-name medication, you can find information about its generic equivalent as well.
Note: The estimator tool assumes you've already met your annual retail deductible. Costs provided are estimates only.
Using the Web
- Go to www.caremark.com
- Click on drop down box -- Select a Plan under Plan Information
- Choose Choices and Click
- Click on Go
- A new pages come up. Click on Check Drug Cost
Step 1
- You are required to complete all fields.
- Field A. Enter participant name--this should always say JOHN DOE
- Field B. Enter medication name--enter the medication name you wish to get a price estimate for
- Click on continue
Step 2
- Select the medication and the strength
- Click on continue
Step 3
- Enter how much medication the doctor prescribed
- Click Get results
Using Your Phone
- Call CVS Caremark at 1-888-291-6372 and select Option 3.
- When prompted, say “cost,” then “price,” and enter the following:
- ID number: 777-88-8999
- Member last name: Doe
- Member first name: John
- Important: Use this “dummy” ID. If you use your own ID, you will get information about our current drug plan.
- Say that you’d like a price estimate.
- Say the drug name, strength, and daily quantity when prompted.
- Provide your state and ZIP code. The local pharmacy price you’ll hear is based on the average Alcoa negotiated rate.
- If the drug is available through the mail-order service, you’ll hear both the retail (for a 30-day supply) and mail-service (for a 90-day supply) costs. The retail and mail-order prices will be significantly different because the quantities are different.
- If you request a brand-name drug for which a generic is available, you’ll also hear the price for the generic.
If you speak to a CVS Caremark customer service representative, say that you are an Alcoa member seeking information about your drug coverage. You’ll need to provide the ID number and other information in Step 2.
