Long-Term Care Insurance

Some Alcoa employees have the option to get more information about Long-Term Care from MetLife when they enroll for their benefits. If you are eligible, you will see the option to get more information when you enroll. (This benefit is not available to Master Agreement plan participants.)

Long-term care (LTC) insurance coverage is available for the following individuals as long as they are U.S. residents:

  • you
  • your spouse or domestic partner (in some states)
  • your parents and parents-in-law
  • your grandparents and grandparents-in-law


Coverage is available in "daily benefit" amounts of $100, $150, or $200 per day in a LTC facility. All options include an optional inflation increase in the daily benefit amount every three years. Home care services are covered at 75% of the daily benefit amount.

MetLife guarantees acceptance to Alcoa employees if they enroll when first eligible. All eligible family members must complete a MetLife evidence of insurability form. When you leave Alcoa, you and any covered family members can retain coverage directly through MetLife.

Alcoa is not the sponsor of the Long-Term Care Insurance Program, but simply makes it available to employees for convenience and potential cost savings. Therefore, you must call MetLife at 1-800-438-6388 if you have any questions about the program or you wish to enroll. Alcoa Human Resources, the Alcoa Payroll Department, and representatives at 1-888-ALCOA123 will not be able to assist you with questions about the program.

How to Enroll
LTC is handled directly by MetLife and is separate from Alcoa's benefits enrollment. If you're interested in learning more about the LTC plan, you may request information during Alcoa's Annual Enrollment or contact MetLife directly by calling 1-800-438-6388. MetLife will send you information by mail. If you choose to enroll, you'll do so directly through MetLife.
