Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) Insurance

The AD&D plan pays a benefit if you die or are dismembered as the result of an accident. In the event of death, this benefit is payable in addition to any life insurance coverage you have.

Alcoa provides you with AD&D insurance equal to two times your annual base pay (rounded to the next higher $5,000) at no cost to you. You may elect additional coverage up to eight times your annual base pay (rounded to the next higher $5,000).

For benefit calculation purposes only, the total AD&D coverage you elect includes the company-paid AD&D insurance coverage. The minimum coverage amount is $60,000 for full-time employees; there is no minimum for part-time employees. The maximum coverage amount for any employee is $3 million. You may choose any option without providing evidence of insurability.

You also can elect from 1 to 8 times your annual base pay for eligible spouse, domestic partner, or child(ren) coverage, or you can elect "no coverage." You're the beneficiary for any dependent AD&D coverage you elect.

Beneficiary Myth

Myth: If I die, my insurance money will automatically go where I want it to go.

Fact: Not necessarily. Make sure your money goes to the right person by naming your beneficiaries. Call 1-888-ALCOA123 or go to Your Benefits Resources™ and click on the "find it fast" drop-down menu.
Important: if you get married or divorced, make sure you update your beneficiaries!
